Description

Here's what I did to create the error:

  1. Download TxDOT Roadways at bottom right of [[http://www.tnris.state.tx.us/datadownload/download.jsp]]. (It's over 80 MB.)
  2. In a blank, new QGIS project, open the TxDOT_Roadways SHP. It's in EPSG:4269.
  3. In QGIS's Project Properties, change to EPSG:3081 via the Coordinate Reference System (CRS) tab. Also check Enable 'on the fly' CRS transformation. Press OK.
  4. Hit the Zoom Full button.
  5. Zoom into some area with discernable roads. I chose the area roughly centered at 1299612,1188094 with scale 1:67004. This is Dallas, TX.
  6. Plugins > OpenLayers plugin > Add Google Streets Layer. Notice how you get an error about a forward transform.

I don't know that you have to take all these steps to create the error; just showing what I got.

If I pick up from the last step and do the following, I am fine:

  1. Plugins > OpenLayers plugin > Openlayers Overview
  2. In the Openlayers Overview pane:
    1. select Enable map.
    2. Select Google Streets from the dropdown, then hit the Add map button to right. Before the Google Map appears, the SHP changed perspective.

I've attached a picture of the error.

Oops, I meant to assign this to the OpenLayers Plugin. Could this issue be moved? I don't see a way of doing this now that I've already entered the issue.

The bug is assigned to the OpenLayers Plugin. But the message is created by QGIS and is not coming from the plugin.
You should be able to produce the same message by setting on-the-fly reprojection to EPSG:900913 as step 6.

Could this need be made more clear in the UI?

Actually, there is an OpenLayers problem. I verified, and the projection is changed only after I add a layer through the Openlayers Overview pane. However, it is not changed if I go through Plugins > OpenLayers plugin > Add Google Streets Layer. So the plugin is acting inconsistently.

Is this still happening with the current version 1.0.0?
