FTools - Select by location
|Assigned to:||Victor Olaya||% Done:||
when i use "Select by location" as batch process, the output files are not created even if there is no error.
if the "layers to select from" are in TOC, correctly the features intersecting the "intersection layer" are selected.
is this a bug or an error of mine?

it is not a bug, it just creates a selection, does not create a new layer
use "save selection as" to export the layer!
Maybe it could be a new feature!

i'm not sure about it.
1) if the result is only a selection of features belonging to layers already present in TOC, it should not be permitted to select input layers that are not in TOC, 'cause the output cannot be viwed;
2) sextante manual, in the section "batch processing interface", says: "Output data objects are always saved to a file [...]"
3) last column of image i posted (Clipboard02.png) shows the path and filename of shapefile of results

stefano, you are right. This is the expected behaviour, but it should not be like that. There are some algorithms in SEXTANTE that do not generate new outputs, but alter existing ones. These algorithms should should no tbe executed in the batch processing interface. I will add some mechanism so they user cannot call them as batch processes.
This is a bug that comes because, as written in the manual, all algorithms in the Java version generate something new and save it to a file. However, the interface in SEXTANTE for QGIS is more advanced, and allows for this kind of algorithms, and I had not considered that when designing the batch interface.
Thabks for you help!
