15th QGIS Developer Meeting in Girona Spain 2016 May 27-29¶
Period and location¶
The developer meeting will take place in May 2016 (27th-29th), and coinciding with our 10th edition, we wanted to prepare something special, something different, something big, and that is why in addition to the Spanish FOSS4G, next May we will jointly organize the 2nd edition of the International QGIS User and Developer Conference, as well as a QGIS Hack Fest (see also Announcing the QGIS hackfests 2016)
GIS and Remote Sensing Service (SIGTE) of the University of Girona
The Spanish Foss4g is an initiative of the Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing Service (SIGTE) of the University of Girona.
The venue for the developer meeting is the monastery located in the beautiful valley of Sant Daniel, a 10-minute walk from the centre of Girona. The monastery of Benedictine nuns has a guest quarters.
The guest quarters occupies the premises where until this past year, was located the residence of university students. Its modern facilities, are adjoining the ancient monastery, on the edge of Galligants river and oriented towards Girona.
The guest quarters has double and single rooms, all with beautiful views, a work space and internet access. It also has access to a part of the garden of the monastery and is adapted for people with mobility difficulties.
The guest quarters of the Monastery of Sant Daniel Valley provides 26 beds in single and double rooms. The rest of the participants of the hack fest, will have to stay in the city.
See the "Where to Stay" page on the conference website for more information: Where to Stay

- Bring your own computer (and power supply!). Better with a power bar, "compatible plug" and long cable, and ethernet cable (we'll provide wifi, but better you have a cable, too).
- Install git and the compiler tools, and come with a working QGIS development environment if possible.
Do you like running up and down the mountain? Taking advantage of the Monastery location (venue of the Hackfest meeting), located in the beautiful valley of Sant Daniel, we are planning to organize a trail running activity.
Depending on the preferences of the runners, we can organize a soft or a moderate trail run activity, to get to the nearest summits (around 350/500 meters of positive elevation gain) and getting nice views from the city and the surrounding landscape. If you are interested in participating in this activity, please register below, and write down your preferences:
|1||Tim Sutton||moderate trail running|
|2||Joana Simoes||light trail running|
|3||João Gaspar||moderate trail running|
|4||Etienne Trimaille||moderate trail running|
- Is the QGIS Hackfest just a coding event?
- It is mainly a coding and documentation event. It is a working session for people who are already participants in the QGIS project and/or are committed to improving the QGIS project.
- On demand we can do some presentations of current working qgis implementation and new upcoming features to spread the idea of openGIS software
- Is the QGIS Hackfest for developers only?
- No: anybody can help, with testing, checking out bugs and fixes, documentation and more.
- Where can I get help and more information about the hackfest?
- Contact ???
