This project is just a curated & organized list of xyz tile basemaps. The basemaps are in mutually exclusive groups, so only one basemap will be active at a time (no need to uncheck the previous basemap). This is a super simple project, but I hope it is useful and saves people time!

Many of these basemaps are already available in the QuickMapServices plugin, but having them all organized in groups and ready to go saves a lot of time when starting a new project. I suggest saving this project as a template (Project -> Save To... -> Templates) and use this as a generic project starting point. When building a project off of this, just be sure to place additional layers above the entire "Basemaps" group.

The first basemaps listed are the ones I use most often for general purposes, followed by several groups of other useful basemaps, organized by provider. The list is not exhaustive of all free and open basemaps, only a short list that are generally useful and a few just for fun ones thrown in too :)

I only included basemaps that are free and open, and do not require any account or API key. A few of the layers do not load at all zoom levels, and the USGS basemaps are only useful for the US.
